Functional Murky Small Tent - Sims 3 World Adventures Tent Conversion

I've had this little tent laying in my WIP box for ages now, since the Murkland Challenge started and finally, I've decided to upload them. Converted from Sims 3 World Adventures.

I love these small tents compared to EA's bigger ones as they don't take up so much space, perfect for Challenges where you don't have a lot of space. As with all my creations I thoroughly play test them but if there's any problems drop me a comment. Thanks.

Comes in 4 swatches. Found under Activities and Skills, Miscellaneous.  Extract the folder and only place the package file in your Electronic Arts, Sims 4, Mods folder.

Bland-Co Grunge Kitchen Counter

I recolored the Bland-Co Kitchen Counter. I originally made this with four swatches but I really wasn't happy with them and I believe less is more sometimes so I removed them.

They have been tested in game, but if any problems please leave me a comment so I can fix it.

I will be working on matching cabinets for these.

Found in game under Surfaces. Extract the package and place in your Sims 4, Documents, Electronic Arts, Mods folder.

Functional Beekeeper Box Recolor

Huge thank you to icemunmun for her awesome Functional Beekeeper Box. I Absolutely love these! She has kindly given me permission to recolor them for my Murkland Challenge by Brennachan and share them with you.

Your sim can smoke the box and collect honey which they can use to bake, sell or eat it. Yum! Beware though if your sim is in a bad mood they just might end up smoking themselves or getting the bee stung moodlet, but you can read more on that over at icemunmun's site.

This is a recolor so I have NOT included the Mesh and that means you will have to pop over to icemunmun to download the mesh first before you can use my recolors in your game otherwise they will NOT show! So you need both Meshes in your package folder.

Grunge Broken Functional Wheelbarrow Planter

While I was painstakingly trying out different textures on these, I edited the mesh, so now you have a broken wheelbarrow, what you do with the wheel is up to you!  ;)

Fully functional, you can drag your seed from your sims inventory to the wheelbarrow and plant it, or you can purchase seeds from it.  Tilt your screen to see the seed to water etc.

Base game, found in Activities and Skills, Miscellaneous. Comes in 4 swatches.
I have tested it but if you have any problems please let me know.

Murky Shelter

I converted the Sims 3 World Adventures Tent and then got this idea, so I played around with the mesh and came up with this. A Murky shelter for your sims!

There are 4 swatches, I had to stop myself cause the texture combos are endless. I couldn't resist but to add one made of cardboard boxes!

Outdoor Retreat is required for the mesh to work. Four swatches. Found in Activities and Skills, Miscellaneous. As shown in the images you can place decor inside the shelter BUT you cannot pick them up if you want to change them, you WILL have to delete your shelter and replace it with an empty one!

Functions as a normal tent. You won't see your sim as they disappear into dreamland. Can do all the interactions a normal tent would do.  Unzip and place package file in your Electronics Arts, Sims 4, Mods folder.

Sims 4 Recoloring Tutorial Part 2


1.  Navigate to the folder where you saved your files for this project.
2.  Right click on the original image for the planter texture and chose Edit with Gimp.

3.  In GIMP select File, Open as Layers.

4.  Select the Planter Box Mesh UV that you saved in Blender.
5.  Double Click on it and it will open.

6.  It should look like the above pic with lines on it. Also notice to  the left a new layer has been created.

7.  Go to the layers window on the right.
8.  Close the original layer.

9.  It should look like the above pic. Transparent and have lines all over it.

10.  Select the eraser tool and delete the lines. Make sure you are working on the Layer you imported from Blender.
The reason I do this is that sometimes you want to keep a detail of EA's texture and then you can play around with the transparency of your texture and if you don't erase the lines they will show through.


11. Navigate to your folder with your texture images in.
12.  Right click on a texture and chose Edit with GIMP.

13.  Unhide the original Layer and take note in which direction EA's wood grain lies, that is if you want to use a wood texture.

14.  Open your chosen texture in GIMP and using the clone tool, hover over an area you would like to clone and Ctrl and click.

15.  Then go to your image you are recoloring and paint over the chosen area with your clone brush till you get the effect you like.

16.  Un-hide the original Layer and right click, File, Export as....

17.  Save your texture under a different name and Export.

18.  You should have Sims4Studio minimized. Now click on it to bring it up.
19.  Make sure you have the texture tab selected.
20.  Click Import.

21.  Studio will open up the folder where you saved all your files for this project.
22.  Select the image you exported from GIMP.

23.  And BOOM, you are halfway to completing your first recolor!

24.  Keep going back to your image in GIMP until you have colored in the whole thing.

25.  The reason I do it in stages besides it being the professional,neat way lol is that the separate pieces can lay in different directions as I mentioned with the wood grain.

By doing it this way you can keep track of your progress in Sims4Studio so if you don't like how something looks simply go back to GIMP and undo your last step.

26.  Above pic is with the second pieces (the sides of the planter) done.

27.  If I'm not sure which section is what on the object I just use a plain color and then Import it into Studio then I can see what goes where.

28.  The final product!

29.  Click Save and your'e done. I would recommend saving your package a lot during the whole process cause you never know what can happen.

30.  About swatches. 

31.  If you want more than one swatch in your package file simply 
       click on the next swatch and redo the steps we've just done.

32.  If you don't want anymore swatches then just click on the
          swatch box above and click Remove Swatch.

       Make sure you are on the correct swatch otherwise you will delete the one you don't want to.

I think I have covered everything in this section.
Don't be scared to play around with Sims4Studio. You cannot create bad CC as Studio will not save your package if you have done something that drastic that would break your game lol.

I do apologize for the images being so small but could not figure out how else to upload them. If it is really a problem and you cannot read them then I will make a plan. If you click on the images they are enlarged.

I found the easiest way to follow a tutorial was to do it while I had the tutorial open in my browser and then just follow a step and minimize etc.

Sims 4 Recoloring Tutorial Part 1

Preparing your package to be recolored. 

I've been wanting to make a recolor tutorial for ages so here goes. I will try to explain this as best I can.

To start off you obviously need the latest version of Sims4Studio (you will have to register there and if you have any problems installing it they have a help thread section) and a photo editor of your choice. I will be using Gimp and Blender . (Make sure you use v2.70)

I have tried to cover the instructions on using Gimp but you need a bit of knowledge on how to use it. There are many helpful tutorials out there.

1. Open up Sims4Studio.

2. If it's your first time installing you will have to type in your 
    creator name. (How cool is that!)

3. Make sure Standalone Recolor under Objects is checked.

4. Click on Objects.

5. Scroll until you find the Garden Planter which I've chosen for this tutorial.

6. Click on it then click Next.

7. Navigate to your desktop folder where you will be saving your files for this project.

8. Name your package then click Save.

9. Click Export.

10. A popup will open the folder you chose to save all your files in for this project.

11. Name your package and click Save.

12. You should see this.

13. Close it, we will come back to it later.

Next we will use Blender. This is optional but I find it helps with recoloring the texture in Gimp.

14.  Click on the Meshes tab in Sims4Studio found next to the Texture tab.

15.  Click on  Export Mesh.

 16.  Name your mesh and click Save.

17.  It will take awhile for studio to export the mesh.

18.  Studio will open your project folder. 

19.  Click on your exported mesh.

Do NOT close Sims4Studio!

20.  Your mesh will open in Blender.

21.  If you right click on the object, blender will highlight it on the right.  This object is called s4studio_mesh_2.  If it is not     
highlighted, click on it.

22.  Next to s4studio_mesh_2 you will see a symbol that looks like a triangle. Click on it.

23.  Your object will now have black lines over it.  You are now in edit mode.

24.  Hover your mouse over the line where the red dot is.  If you hold your cursor down on the line by the red arrow you will be able to drag and expand the window.

25.  Click on the icon by my arrow that looks like a white box with an arrow in it.

26.  You will then see your UV map. 

27.  But its square so we need to match it up to the planters UV which is rectangle otherwise your recolors wont match and you will have soil where your planters sides should be etc...

28.  Hover your cursor over the first window box on the left.

29.  Select A on your keyboard.

30.  This will highlight all the parts of your UV at once.

28.  Click on the small icon next to the word Uvs, a box will pop 

29.  Click on the bottom diffuse 002.

30.  You will now see your square UV will be replaced with the planter box rectangle UV.  So you can now see that all your parts will be in their correct positions when you use this UV to recolor.

31.  Click on the UVs tab by the arrow.

32.  A pop up will appear then click ExportUV Layout.

33.  This will open another window. Take note of where Blender will save it but by default it should save it to your folder where
you saved all your files for this project.

34.  Enter and it will take you back to your Blender project.

35.  Close Blender.

You are now ready to recolor your object in Gimp.
